HOW TO BECOME A CONTENT CREATOR
Now for all the young ones out there, prepare for a shocker; did you know that there was a time when social media and online shopping DIDN’T EXIST?
Yep, back in the day social media wasn’t a thing and most people had to get by with actually meeting up with a friend in person and going to the store - not an online one. And because of the development of social media, it’s dramatically changed the world! From instant messaging and live life updates to following your fave celebs every move and finding out about the latest trends via brand deals; the world has made so many new efforts to enhance this digital era, and people are LOVING it!!
These days anyone can become a content creator…but what is content creation?
Throwing it back to one of this week’s readings, “content creation is all about YOU, unlike advertising where it’s about ME”. In layman’s terms, these brand deals, sponsorships and other things you see your fave celebs getting in on are to help the brand build a strong client relationship with you and make sure you are happy with the product/service. Yes, a lot of celebs do it for the money, but it’s also as part of the brand deal that they make sure it is something they believe in and want you to believe in and try too!
The question remains, what’s the best way to go about becoming a content creator?
Here are a few helpful tips from some of your favourite pop culture icons!
Become your own Queen Bey and run the world!
Be confident in your brand. Set the rules for businesses if they decide to do a brand deal with you. Let the world know what your message is and how you want to communicate it.
Don’t let the muggles get you down
Like many things in life, maintaining high-quality content can be tricky, but don’t let that get you down. If you get stuck, speak up and ask other creators how they found their way out of a sticky situation.
Santiago knows how it goes!
Set yourself up for success. Know your brand, set an attainable future goal and come up with a strategic plan of how you are going to get there.
The KISS Method - ‘Keep it simple, sweetie’
Don’t create lengthy posts divulging from one thing to another; keep it simple. Create short, sweet and entertaining posts that will capture your target audience’s attention - and attention of brands that you want to do deals with.
Follow Velma’s lead, start asking the big questions!
Is there a particular brand you’re dying to work with? Simple solution: talk to them! Ask them if they are looking for brand ambassadors, if they’d be up for a brand-deal with you and where you’d like to be able to help said brand.
Take a page from Barney’s book, BE YOURSELF.
The only thing brands like more than people interested in being brand ambassadors, is finding brand ambassadors who are happy being themselves and are able to promote the brand in a way that feels most comfortable to them!
Go get yourself out there, interact with brands, shine as bright as you can and take the content creation world by storm!
